Liberty State Park Engagement Session :: Marissa & Dan

When Marissa and Dan reached out to me to schedule their upcoming engagement session, it was a no-brainer for where we would go. I mean, what better location than Liberty State Park in Jersey City, with the NYC skyline behind them - where Dan proposed?

“On our yearly trip into the city for Marissa's birthday, we got tickets to go to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center. While waiting for our appointed time to go up, we were browsing the stores. I stepped away from Marissa to get the ring out of the backpack I was carrying and put it in my pocket. As soon as I tried to get the ring into my jacket pocket, she came walking out of the store. I quickly tried to shove the ring box into my pocket and missed, causing it to fall to the floor in front of her. Marissa pretended not to notice and we proceeded up to the 70th floor observation deck where I got done on one knee with the ring, which was originally her mother's engagement ring. I asked her if she would marry me and be willing to spend a lifetime making memories together. She excitedly said yes and no sooner had I put the ring on her finger, two older ladies walked over to where we were and asked if we had just gotten engaged. We told them yes and they asked if we would like a picture together. We accepted and the ladies told me to get back down on one knee to recreate the proposal ,” says Dan. Isn’t that the best thing you’ve ever heard? I just love a good love story…

I think my favorite part about this shoot was when Marissa broke out her Harry Potter wand, a Gryffindor scarf, and Dan's light saber. Naturally, I had to photograph that little moment and add some magical effects!

These two are getting married early next spring, and I cannot wait to be there for their special day. Good luck on all the planning, you guys, and thanks for letting me be a part of this journey toward your marriage! Check out more of their session below.
